I hope you and your dog have a pleasant and fulfilling relationship. If you don't, I can help you remedy that situation using positive reinforcement. I am San Francisco Bay Area-based, but serve other areas by special arrangement.

If you are looking for a trainer, you probably have:

  • An unruly adolescent dog that makes you feel totally out of control
  • A dog who is so hard to walk that the dog doesn't get out much
  • A dog who lunges at other dogs and may be aggressive
  • A dog with a scary or annoying behavior issue like too much growline, barking, nipping, guarding, or jumping
  • A dog with a destructive behavior issue like soiling in the house or too much chewing or digging

Or, maybe you are just starting out with a puppy or adopted an older dog and want to get started on the right track. Perhaps you just want to have more fun with your dog and get some more exercise! If so, consider the "Agility Pals: Starting Out in Agility!" series.

Sometimes it's hard to figure out if you even need a trainer or how big the problem is. It helps to talk first. Call. If you don't need a trainer, I'll tell you that. If you need something I can't provide, I'll tell you that, too, and get you an appropriate referral in the Bay Area. If you want to work long-distance via email and phone, we can work that out.

Take advantage of my free 15-minute phone consultation at 510-910-8833. Be sure to ask about The Agility Manners Weekender and other package options that can save you money.

Choosing a private in-home trainer is a personal decision. It's even a little bit intimate. Finding someone you are comfortable with and can work with is important. My husband and I are co-hosts of a real-world dog training podcast called "The Good Dog Show." If you have the time, you can listen in on a training session, get a sense of how I train and if my approach would work for you, and gain some tips and tricks that will help you decide if we are a good fit. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, you might look at my column "Ask Kate the Dog Trainer" featured in The Alameda Sun and reproduced here. You might be able to skip a private trainer altogether!
